Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Marymount University women's soccer team battled Catholic University on Wednesday, but was unable to keep pace with the Cardinals at Long Bridge Park.
Catholic started the game off quickly with a goal just under two minutes into the game. Despite the early blow, Marymount countered with its own goal near the 12-minute mark. Sita Nair scored her second goal in as many games, which brought her season total to three.
Chloe White was credited with the assist after a pass split a Catholic defender's legs and found Nair behind the defense. The fifth-year senior wasted little time and slotted the ball into the back of the net.
Catholic managed to grab a goal in the 25th minute to take a 2-1 advantage into the halftime break. Despite Marymount's defensive efforts, which resulted in three team saves, the Cardinals opened a goal-scoring barrage in the second hd with three goals on 16 shots.
Grace Needham got the start in goal for the Saints and registered six saves.
Marymount will be back on the field at Long Bridge Park on Saturday, October 9 at 1:00 p.m. to continue Atlantic East Conference play against Marywood University.
