ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University women's soccer team fell in Atlantic East Conference action on Tuesday night at Long Bridge Park, 2-0, to Cabrini University.

The Cabrini offense attacked early, but freshman goalkeeper Grace Needham was up for the challenge. She made four saves in the opening 20 minutes, with three coming in the first seven, to keep the game scoreless.

The Cavaliers broke through in the 25th minute on a shot from distance that floated over Needham's gloves.

Junior Laney Placido put the Saints' first shot on goal to try and even the score four minutes later, but the Cabrini keeper made the stop. Marymount totaled three shots on goal in the final 16 minutes of the half.

At the half, Cabrini led in shots, 8-3, but Needham made five saves in the opening frame to keep the Saints in the game.

The Cavaliers doubled their lead with a header, following a corner kick just over two minutes into the second half.

Marymount looked to find the back of the net with a span of three shots-on-goal in four minutes, but all were saved.

The Saints will now look forward to the Atlantic East Conference tournament and will play host in a first-round contest on Monday, November 1. The Saints' opponent and game time are to be determined.
