IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Marymount University women's volleyball team improved to 2-0 in Atlantic East Conference play on Wednesday evening with a 3-1 victory over Immaculata University.

Junior Elissa Munsterman led a balanced offensive attack, with 11 kills and a blistering .714 hitting percentage. Classmate Sophie Meredith and senior Kaitlyn Doyle chipped in with 10 kills and seven kills, respectively.

Freshman Lauryn Sims tallied five service aces, in the effort.

Marymount took the first set in a come-from-behind effort. After closely trailing for much of the frame, four kills from Meredith paced the team's final six points to take the win. From a 19-19 tie, the Saints outscored the Mighty Macs, 6-3, in the final moments.

After Immaculata tied the match in the second set, the Saints found their stride with wins in the third and fourth sets. They outscored the Mighty Macs 50-23 between the two frames, using a .360 hitting percentage in the third and a .321 hitting percentage in the fourth.

Munsterman put down all 11 kills in the final two sets, including six in the fourth to lead the way.

To start the third set, Marymount came out on a 10-2 opening run and never looked back. The Saints built the lead to 20-9, before cruising to victory.

In the fourth, the Saints fell into a 7-6 deficit, but two straight kills from Doyle sparked a run of eight unanswered points to gain a 15-7 lead. MU held control from there to close the match.

Sophomore Sydney Sands finished with 23 assists to lead the team, while Sims led the defense with 12 digs.

The Saints will continue Atlantic East play on Friday, October 15, traveling to Centenary College for their next match, set for 7 p.m.
