WASHINGTON, D.C. - The No. 14 Marymount University women's basketball team concluded the Jamie Lynn Roberts Tournament on Sunday afternoon, slipping to host Catholic University in the fourth quarter, 56-51.

It was a tight game throughout the full 40 minutes with the largest lead being eight by the Saints (10-3), but the Cardinals (10-2) put together a 22-point fourth quarter to edge by MU by five, CUA's largest lead of the contest.

Marymount outscored the Cardinals in the first three quarters, including a 25-22 advantage at the half. Senior Abby Fisher, who posted a career game on Saturday with 25 points and 11 rebounds, started off Sunday hot as well, leading the Saints with 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting at the break. 

The Saints continued to battle in the third quarter, but the Cardinals eventually grabbed a lead with four minutes left at 34-33. However, Marymount silenced CUA for the remainder of the quarter while dropping in eight-straight points to carry a 41-34 advantage into the final frame. In the stretch, sophomore Katie McShea dropped in six of the eight points and senior Gabriella Haddad added a jumper off a dish by junior Aidan Phillips. 

In the fourth, MU maintained its lead through much of the quarter including two three-pointers by freshman Symantha Shackelford to help keep a multi-score spread. The Cardinals began to slowly chip away at the deficit, while stiffening up the defense. The CUA defense held the Saints scoreless through the final four minutes of the game. 

On the other end of the court, they used 11-unanswered points to takeover the advantage and hold off the Saints for the final decision, 56-51. 

McShea led all scorers with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for her eighth double-double through 13 games. 

The Saints now head into Atlantic East Conference play on Wednesday, January 8, traveling to Wesley College. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m., in Dover, Delaware.
