WASHINGTON, D.C. - The No. 14 Marymount University women's basketball team opened up the 2020 slate with an 18-point victory on Saturday afternoon, topping King's College, 88-70, in the first day of the Jamie Lynn Roberts Tournament hosted by Catholic University.

Behind career performances by seniors Gabriella Haddad and Abby Fisher, the Saints (10-2) put together their highest point total in a game this season with 88 points. Haddad led the way with a career- and game-high 27 points on 11-for-20 shooting, while Fisher had a career-high 25 points behind a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc. 

Each of the two led the defensive charge as well with double-double games, as Haddad pulled in a tied career- and game-high 12 rebounds and Fisher added a career-high 11 rebounds. 

The game sported four ties and eight lead changes, but the Saints slowly pulled away in the second half with 50 off their 88 points coming in the final 20 minutes. The largest lead of the game came on the final points, when Fisher was dished a ball from junior Taylor Love to knock down her fifth three-pointer of the game for the 18-point lead and final score. 

Commanding the boards in the game played a major key to the victory, with MU out-rebounding the Monarchs, 51-28, including 18 offensive rebounds. The 18 boards led to 25 second-chance points and 48 of the 88 points in the paint. 

The offensive rebound game was heavily shared by Haddad and sophomore Katie McShea, as each had six boards on the Saints' side of the court. McShea finished the day with nine rebounds, one shy of another double-double with 18 points. 

Marymount wraps up the tournament on Sunday, January 5 at 3 p.m., against the host Cardinals.
