SCRANTON, Pa. - The Marymount University women's basketball team wrapped up the first half of Atlantic East Conference competition on Saturday afternoon, throttling past Marywood University, 85-45, to sit at 5-1 in the league.

The Saints (15-4) scored early and often in the game, dropping in three-straight quarters of 20-plus points, including 29 in the first quarter. Marymount put away the game in the first seven minutes, opening the game with a 19-0 stretch and not allowing a single point from the Pacers until the 3:34 mark. 

Defensively, Marymount forced Marywood into 21 turnovers for the game, with seven of those coming in the first quarter that the Pacers scored just five points. 

Marymount carried a 50-21 lead into the locker room led by junior Aidan Phillips with 12 points including two three-pointers. 

With a 22-point third quarter, the Saints shut the door on any comeback attempt for the Pacers, eventually building to their largest lead of the game late in the fourth when Phillips knocked down another three-pointer to push Marymount to an 83-37 advantage. 

Phillips led all scorers with a career-high 17 points, while freshman Symantha Shackelford registered a career-high 16 points. Senior Gabriella Haddad and sophomore Katie McShea also joined them in double digits with 15 and 10 points, respectively, while McShea made it another double-double with a game-high 13 rebounds. 

The Saints take a week off from competition and return home to host Wesley College for Alumni Day on Saturday, February 1 to start up the second half of league play. Start time is set for 3 p.m.
