ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University women's soccer team hosted Atlantic East Conference-opponent, Marywood University, at Long Bridge Park Saturday afternoon, falling just short in a close, 2-0, decision. 

The Pacers got out to a quick start, getting the games first shot off in the second minute. Fortunately for the Saints, Marywood's shot was off target.

With the same amount of intensity, the Pacers were awarded a corner kick in the 24th minute. Capitalizing on the effort, Cara Romaniello found the back of the net.

Marymount got it's first opportunity at goal as senior Gabby Cabrales sent a shot to the bottom-right corner but was denied by the Pacers' keeper.

Four minutes later, senior Karen Reyes had a chance to tie the game, but the Pacers' keeper was there for the challenge, again.

At the half, despite being down one, Marymount had the edge in shots, 11-5.

Marywood got off to another quick start, finding the back of the net for the second time, just six minutes after the half-time break.

With a chance to cut into the lead, senior Gretel Bonilla got her shot off to the bottom right corner. But the Pacers keeper was there for stop once again.

Sophomore goalkeeper Maia Pappadakis was between the pipes for all 90 minutes today, tallying a total of five saves.

Continuing league play, Marymount will hit the road to face off against Wesley College on Wednesday, October 23; opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
