ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University women's soccer team faced off against Christendom College on Wednesday night at Long Bridge Park, picking up its first win of the season, 12-0.

Following a weather delay that lasted for a hour and 40 minutes to start the match, Marymount came out strong firing 29 shots in the first half, as the Saints had possession for a majority of the first half.

Junior Gabby Cabrales found the back of the net first for the Saints, as she collected a deflection and ripped the ball just under the cross bar for her first score of the season. Freshman Carolyn Treuting found the back of the net just eight minutes after Cabrales for her second goal of the season.

The goals came often and quick in the first half for the Saints. Sophomore Sita Nair and freshman Taylor Memon each found their first goals of the season, as well. Memon recorded two first-half goals for the Saints' promising offense.  

Junior Karen Reyes had her share of goals as she found the back of the net twice within the first 45 minutes. Reyes would complete the hat trick in the second half and finished the night with seven points, adding one assist.

Just like the first half, the Saints came out of the half-time break hungry for the net. Marymount scored five goals in the second 45 minutes. Senior Caroline Phillips recorded her first goal of her senior slate.

Freshman goalkeeper Madison Foltz made her second start and played for the first 45 minutes. Her first half defense held strong as Foltz was faced with zero shots, picking up the victory.  Senior Sydney Sherman started in goal for the Saints in the second half, making two saves on the only two shots fired off by the Crusaders.

The Marymount women's soccer team is back in action Friday, September 29, as the travel to Washington Adventist University. First touch is set for 3:30 p.m.
