Box Score FRONT ROYAL, Va. – The Marymount University men's soccer team fell on Wednesday evening, 4-3, to Christendom College.
The Saints took an early lead in the match, following a goal by senior Mynor Danilo Lopez in the 10th minute of the match. Less than five minutes later, sophomore Luis Ochoa found the back of the net off a pass from senior Sebastian Hendi to double Marymount's advantage.
Christendom responded with three-straight scores, all coming off the foot of Pete Day, to flip momentum and take a 3-2 lead late in a high-scoring first half.
Marymount would not give in, however, as senior Anthony Calderon netted an unassisted score in the 41st minute to knot the score, 3-3, which the teams carried to the break.
The Saints put the offensive pressure on in the first half, totaling 11 shots in the frame.
Both teams continued to battle into the second half, but it wasn't until the 72nd minute that Day would put home his fourth score of the game to give the Crusader's the lead; the goal marked the deciding tally in the match.
The Saints will host their first home game of the season on Saturday, September 22 for their next contest, taking on Penn State University-Harrisburg at Long Bridge Park. The match is set for 1 p.m.
