FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Marymount University men's basketball team fell behind late to the University of Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 65-54 decision on the road. 

The Saints (6-4) built up an early lead in the first half, after back-to-back three-pointers by junior LaDarius McCord and Josh Giardina pushed MU out to its largest lead of the game at 10-4. 

However, the game remained close, as the Eagles (6-2) chipped away at the deficit and remained neck-and-neck for the remainder of the first half with two ties and six lead changes. Mary Washington took a 28-24 lead into the break, but it was the Saints that shot better for the half at 47.4 percent from the floor, while the Eagles shot 30.3 percent. 

The second half had the Saints trailing for the full 20-minute stretch, but it didn't go without a fight. Marymount continued to hit baskets, scoring 30 points in the half, but the Eagles always had an answer, holding their lead throughout. 

Junior Ibrahim Kamara, who was held scoreless in the first half of play, came out in the second for a game-high 16 points on 5-for-7 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 from deep. Senior Brandon Rogers added 12 points with all four of his buckets from beyond the arc. 

The men remain on the road to close out 2018, traveling to Pennsylvania before the Christmas break for two non-conference matchups on Tuesday, December 18 and Wednesday, December 19. They take on Penn College on Tuesday, and close out the trip against Lycoming College on Wednesday.
