Box Score

ARLINGTON, Va. - Marymount women's basketball senior Leah Hurst scored a career-high 21 points while the Saints limited Salisbury to just 45 while forcing 31 turnovers as they extended their CAC regular-season win streak to 18 games with a 64-45 victory over the Sea Gulls Wednesday at Verizon Sports Arena.

Marymount (16-2, 11-0 CAC) also improved its home winning streak to 16 and its overall streak to seven.

In addition, the Saints held their opponent under 50 points for the fifth consecutive game and 10th time this season. They entered the game ranked 13th in the NCAA in scoring defense, allowing opponents an average of just 50.0 points per game.

In two games against the Sea Gulls this season, the Saints have won both games by nearly identical scores after winning the first meeting, 66-45 on December 6. Marymount has held Salisbury to its two lowest point totals of the season, 15 points below its average, while also forcing 60 turnovers. The Saints, who forced 31 tonight and 29 in the first game, have scored 63 points off of those turnovers.

Hurst scored 10 of her points in the opening quarter as Marymount held a 14-7 lead. Six of the Sea Gulls' seven points came off of eight Saint turnovers.

Marymount extended its lead to nine in the second quarter, 23-14, as Hurst (12) and junior Tyffani McQueen (9) combined for 21 points while Salisbury was just 5-of-21 from the floor.

The Sea Gulls (10-8, 5-6 CAC) used a 10-2 run to pull within one at 25-24, but the Saints answered with a 12-3 surge, scoring the final four points of the quarter to take a five-point lead at the break before scoring six of the first nine points in the third to push their advantage to 37-27.

After going scoreless in the first half, sophomore Regan Lohr scored all 16 of her points in the second, including nine in the fourth. Marymount built its lead to as many as 19 in the fourth after doubling up Salisbury, 18-9.

This season, the Saints have held opponents to single digits in a quarter in 14 out of 18 games, including five-straight. Furthermore, they have limited opponents to fewer than 10 points in 22 out of 72 quarters.

McQueen finished with 11 point. Senior Nicole Viscuso had five rebounds and six assists while freshman Kathryn Ryan totaled six points and five rebounds, both career highs.

Marymount travels to York (Pa.) on Saturday for a CAC contest with the Spartans beginning at 1 p.m. The Saints won the previous meeting 68-47 back on December 9.
