WASHINGTON, D.C. - Marymount women's volleyball sophomore Miranda Cooksey posted a career-high 10 kills to go along with five total blocks as the Saints snapped a five match losing streak with a 25-12, 25-22, 25-19 victory over cross town rival Gallaudet Wednesday at the Field House.

Marymount (5-6) totaled a season-high 18 blocks, forcing the Bison to 21 attack errors and a .107 hitting percentage. The Saints also totaled 10 service aces, two shy of their season high.

Cooksey also posted a .529 hitting percentage. For the second-straight match, freshman Myah Cordrey had a career-high nine kills while hitting .571 and adding four total blocks.

Freshman Maggie Viniard totaled 19 assists and eight digs while senior Christy Tieman had 10 assists. Sophomore Theresa Buscemi had 11 digs and a season-high four service aces for the second time this season. She also had four service aces at Virginia Wesleyan.

Marymount jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first set before stretching it to 15-7. The Saints then scored 10 of the the final 15 points, including the last two on back-to-back service aces by Buscemi.

Marymount took a 4-1 lead in the second set before a 9-6 spurt by Gallaudet (5-8) tied it at 10-10. After three ties, the Bison jumped in front 16-13 before there were five more ties, the last coming at 22-22. The Saints would then clinch the set by scoring the final three points on a Gallaudet service error, a kill by junior Emily Abramaitys and a kill by Viniard.

The third set say Marymount take another big lead, 7-2, before the Bison used a 9-5 run to pull within one, 12-11. With the Saints holding an 18-17 lead, they used a 7-2 run to take the match, scoring three of the final four points on kills by Abramaitys, Cordrey and Cooksey for match point.

Marymount returns home for a tri-match against Shenandoah and Goucher this Saturday at Verizon Sports Arena. The Saints will take on Shenandoah at 1:00 p.m., before facing Goucher at 5:00 p.m. Live stats and video for all three matches can be seen live on www.marymountsaints.com.
