Lohr Scores Career-High 25, Huge First Half Carries Saints Past Seahawks

Box Score

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Marymount women's basketball sophomore Regan Lohr scored a career-high 25 points, including 21 in the first half, almost outscoring St. Mary's (Md.) herself as the Saints cruised to a 65-45 victory in a CAC contest Saturday at O'Brien ARC Arena.

Marymount (5-1, 2-0 CAC) has now won five-straight since dropping its season opener at Randolph-Macon while extending its CAC regular season win streak to nine.

Lohr tied her career, equaling the mark she set against Lynchburg on Dec. 29, 2016. She was 10-of-18 from the floor with three three-pointers, one shy of her career-high also set versus Lynchburg a year ago.

Lohr scored 21 points in the first half as the Saints took a 42-22 halftime lead. She and senior Nicole Viscuso combined for 34 points as Viscuso added 13.

Marymount scored the first 11 points of the game before the Seahawks (2-3, 0-1 CAC) finally got on the board with 4:34 remaining in the first quarter. However, St. Mary's rallied, tying the score at 15-15 before a three-pointer by Lohr gave the Saints a 22-15 lead after one.

Like the first quarter, Marymount's defense made it hard for the Seahawks to score as the home team was against held scoreless for the first 3:13.

The Saints closed the half with a 15-2 run over the final five minutes, outscoring St. Mary's in the quarter, 20-7, to take a 20-point halftime lead, 42-22.

Once again in the third, Marymount held the Seahawks scoreless for the first 3:13 until they hit one of two free throws with 6:47 left. However, the Saints' defense held St. Mary's without a field goal until there were only 44 seconds remaining in the quarter.

The Seahawks missed all 11 of their 12 attempts from the floor in the quarter, scoring eight of their 10 points from the free throw line where they were 8-of-13.

Marymount held St. Mary's without a made basket for a span of 11:47, from the 2:31 mark of the second quarter until the 44 second mark of the third.

Sophomore Gabriella Haddad totaled her first career double double on Saturday, finishing with 11 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. She entered the game leading the nation in field goal percentage and is now shooting 68.9 percent from the floor this season after going 3-for-5.

Viscuso finished with a season-high 17 points as the Saints five starters, Haddad, Viscuso, Lohr, senior Leah Hurst and junior Tyffani McQueen combined for 59 of the team's 65 points. Hurst totaled six points, six rebounds and eight assists.

Marymount returns to action on Wednesday when the team travels to Salisbury for a CAC contest with the Sea Gulls beginning at 5:30 p.m.
