YORK, Pa. - Marymount women's volleyball freshman Myah Cordrey tied her career-high with 10 kills, but after rallying from a two-set deficit, the Saints could not overcome five attack errors in the decisive fifth set as York (Pa.) held on to post a 25-21, 25-18, 23-25, 17-25, 15-9 victory Wednesday at Wolf Gymnasium.

With just two CAC matches remaining, Marymount (11-12, 3-4 CAC) is still in search of securing a spot in the 2017 CAC Volleyball Championship and will look to do so with matches against Frostburg State and conference unbeaten, Southern Virginia.

Cordrey had 27 attempts, one shy of her career high at No. 22 Christopher Newport. Junior Caroline Hanson rebounded from Tuesday's loss to Salisbury, totaling 12 kills, 27 assists, seven digs, seven service aces and three block assists while posting a .286 hitting percentage.

The Spartans (17-7, 3-2 CAC) totaled 22 kills and hit .258 as a team in winning the first two sets. However, they hit just. 160 over the next two as the Saints rallied to tie the match at two sets apiece.

For the match, York totaled 45 kills with just 18 errors for a .205 hitting percentage while Marymount had 41 kills, but had 32 attack errors, one shy of its season high set last night, for a .064 hitting percentage. The Saints had five kills and five errors in the decisive fifth set.

The Saints have dropped their last two five-set matches of the season after winning their first two.

Sophomore Theresa Buscemi finished with 15 digs while junior Celine Nguyen added 11. Senior Christy Tieman had 11 assists.

Marymount has a week to prepare for its next match as the team travels to cross town rival Catholic on Wednesday, October 25 for a 7 p.m., match against the Cardinals.
