Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. — A great night for the Marymount (Va.) University women's volleyball team started out with senior Emileigh Rettig being honored with her 1,000 career kill from a week and a half ago before sealing up the night with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-15) sweep for the third-straight season over Washington (Md.) College.
The Saints came in knowing that the Shorewomen were boasting a 5-1 record, but didn't let that concern them. Striking early and building a momentum, the blue and white had no issue posting three sets of complete dominance, not allowing Washington to score more than 18 points each set.
Junior Margaret McAlpin led the Saints on offense after registering seven kills for the night, while the duo setters, junior Christine Tieman and sophomore Caroline Hanson, posted 13 kills each for the Saints. Leading Marymount on defense was freshman Theresa Buscemi, who scooped up a team-high 11 digs, and sophomore Ashton Walker put up a wall at the net, posting five blocks (two solos and three assisted) to tie her career high.
The women will take a week break from competition before traveling up to Owing Mills, Maryland on Wednesday, September 21 for a matchup against Stevenson University. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
