Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Marymount (Va.) University women's soccer team concluded the D.C. Soccer Classic on Sunday afternoon against host Catholic University of America, falling 8-0.
Switching apparel to a goalkeeper jersey for the first time this season was junior Joanna Chenaille, who put together an 11-save match. In the opening 32 minutes, Chenaille turned away five shots on target, before the Cardinals (4-1) put the first in the back of the net in the 33rd minute.
Following the second goal for Catholic, the Saints (3-3) looked to get on the board with two-straight shots by junior Chloe McAuliffe, but both pushed just wide.
The backline for Marymount continued to play hard throughout, led by juniors Rebekah Krasinski and Sarah Lloyd and freshmen Makayla Andrews and Brooke Hillenbrand, as they pushed the Cardinals offside a total of 11 times.
The Saints will head back to their home turf on Wednesday, September 16 to kick off a three-game homestretch. MU will take on McDaniel College in the first matchup at Long Bridge Park. First touch is set for 7 p.m.
