Saints Tie Program Win Record

Box Score

Arlington, Va. – The Marymount men's basketball team overwhelmed Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday night, powering past the visiting Lions, 85-64.  The Saints improve to 18-4 and 12-3 in CAC action with the win.

With the win, head coach Chris Rogers and the 2014-15 Saints tie the Marymount men's basketball program record for wins in a season with 18 – a record previously set by the 1991-92 CAC Championship team.

Two Saints scored in double-figures, while the squad rebounded very much by committee – spreading its 35 total boards among ten different players.  Colin Burkhart paced the Marymount offense with a career-high 16 points on the night, while D'Ondre Stockman chipped in 12.

Despite starting the contest with a quick 6-0 run, Marymount saw Penn State battle back to within two, 10-8, by the 15:51 mark.

The Saints reset and sprung for a 14-3 run just moments later, retaking control with a commanding 27-13 lead.  Though the Lions would once again chip away and pull within single-digits, the effort ultimately proved to be vain. Marymount closed out the first half with a towering 18-4 run – pocketing a 22-point advantage, 47-25, heading into the break.

The second half saw the Saints further extend their lead, capitalizing on Penn State turnovers and offensive miscues.

When the final buzzer sounded and ended the impressive offensive display, Marymount had authored an imperious 85-64 advantage.

On the night, Marymount poured in a 54.4% (31-for-57) effort from the floor – vastly outshooting the Lions and their 36.4% (24-for-66 mark).

The Saints return to action on Saturday as they travel to Christopher Newport for a CAC battle.  Tip time is set for 4 p.m.
