Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Marymount (Va.) University men's basketball team traveled to Pennsylvania Wednesday night to kick off a three-game road series to end 2015, dropping a 76-65 decision to Lebanon Valley College in a non-conference matchup.
The Saints saw scoring from 10 different players led by senior Colin Burkhart with 12 points, but a first-half run by the Dutchmen held off the MU scoring to keep their distance throughout the game.
In the first half, LVC grabbed the early lead off back-to-back three pointers, but sophomore D'Ondre Stockman answered with one of his own to get MU on the board. Although the Saints never held the advantage, the deficit remained in single digits for most of the half until the Dutchmen hit one of their runs in the closing five minutes before the break. Trying to get it back within single digits was successful once off a finish by freshman Trey Johnson with 4:22 remaining, but LVC took a 47-31 advantage into the half.
The Dutchmen opened the final 20 minutes with the first basket, however Marymount wasn't going away, erasing the double-digit deficit with a nine-point run of its own to get within nine, 49-40, at the 16:23 mark. In the stretch, sophomore Alex Danko knocked in four points, while junior Jesse Longmire and senior Rick Narcisse layed in a bucket apiece and sophomore Dimitri Rucker hit a free throw.
The run wasn't enough to hold back the Dutchmen though, as they closed out the rest of the half with consistent shooting eventually taking the 76-65 decision.
Along with Burkhart's team-high 12 points, Rucker added nine points while Stockman and freshman Brandon Rogers tacked on eight apiece. The eight for Rogers marked a career high. Narcisse pulled in a game-high six rebounds to go along with his game-high three steals and six points.
The men remain on the road for their final game before the Christmas break, traveling to McDaniel College on Sunday, December 13 for a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
