Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Traveling down 95 for a Capital Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon, the Marymount (Va.) University men's soccer team fell behind early to the University of Mary Washington before eventually dropping a 3-0 decision.
The Eagles came out strong on the offensive front, taking their first shot in the fifth minute off Riley Fisher, but senior goalkeeper Logan Cropper was quick enough to pull it in. Less than a minute later, Fisher earned another opportunity, this time cashing in on it to put the Saints down 1-0.
Cropper continued to see shots through a good part of the first half, but Marymount had its opportunities as well on the offensive end. In the 27th minute, freshman Chris Cardenas fired a shot on target, but Mary Washington goalkeeper Matt Spencer pushed it away.
Another shot was directed on net less than 10 minutes later off the foot of freshman Marc Mendoza, but again, Spencer was quick enough to keep the Saints off the board.
Like the first half, the final 45 minutes saw Marymount get two opportunities against Spencer, another by Mendoza and a rip from junior Ahmed El-manialawy, but nothing would get past the keeper.
Cropper tended the net for the full 90 minutes, registering six saves.
The men will remain on the road for their next contest, traveling to Dover, Delaware for a league matchup with Wesley College on Wednesday, October 7. First touch is set for 7 p.m.
