Box Score 4 Washington, D.C. – Marymount University's women's volleyball team extends its winning streak to eight matches after closing out the Guetle Invitational with a perfect 4-0 record. With the unblemished weekend, the Saints welcome their best start since the 2006 campaign, improving to 8-0 on the season.
The Guetle Invitational, hosted by nearby Catholic University, saw the Blue and White lose only one set over the stellar four-match performance.
Marymount's only true battle proved to be its opening match of the weekend when it took on Cabrini Saturday morning. The Saints won the first two sets before the Cavaliers stole away the third. Unfazed, Marymount swiped the fourth set to seal the match victory 3-1 (25-15, 25-19, 18-25, 25-20).
The next three matches saw the Saints take absolute control. Marymount swept Marywood (25-12, 25-22, 25-22) to cap its Saturday efforts before coasting to its tournament title on Sunday. The Saints overwhelmed New Jersey City (25-9, 25-8, 25-13) before blanking Randolph (25-14, 25-21, 25-23) in the tournament finale.
Sophomore Emileigh Rettig earned Tournament MVP honors, while classmate Hannah Steger collected All-Tournament accolades as well.
At this time, further information and statistics are still in the process of being uploaded. Pertinent information, including box scores, will be posted as soon as possible.
