Box Score Hampden-Sydney, Va. – Marymount University's men's soccer squad opened up its weekend with a heartbreaking loss, surrendering a goal in the 86th minute to host Hampden-Sydney. The Saints slip to 0-3 on the season with the sour one-goal decision.
The first half proved slow and methodical with both teams mounting several unsuccessful attacks, testing the other's armor. It was the second half that saw the Tigers truly take control of the contest.
The Tigers outshot the Saints 10-2 in the second half, though the game-winner - off the foot of Liam Hogan - did not find the back of the net until the 86th tick. With the final minutes melting off the clock, the Saints failed to answer the would-be fatal blow.
Logan Cropper (0-3) suffers the tough decision after collecting seven saves in a busy day between the pipes.
Marymount returns to the Hampden-Sydney Classic on Sunday, slated to take on Randolph in its weekend finale. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
