Five-Set Comeback Lifts Saints to 11-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Aston, Pa. – Marymount University's women's volleyball squad extended its program-best winning streak even further on Friday night, opening the Neumann University Invitational with a pair of very competitive victories over Moravian and Haverford, respectively.  The Saints have yet to taste defeat in the 2014 campaign and boast an impressive 11-0 record heading into the tournament's closing day.

The Blue and White opened the day against Moravian, digging out the first two tight sets by a combined four points before downing the Greyhounds 3-1 (29-27, 26-24, 16-25, 25-17) for the second time this season.

It was the night cap – a nerve-racking tilt against Haverford – that saw the Saints uneasily cornered.  The Black Squirrels stole away the first two sets – an always-challenging deficit that Marymount had yet to encounter in 2014.

With the season's ten untainted victories on the line, the Saints took action in the third set, if only in pursuit of perfection.  Set by set the Blue and White battled back, eclipsing Haverford by paper-thin margins to eventually shock the Black Squirrels 3-2 (21-25, 17-25, 25-16, 25-22, 15-13).

Marymount hits the court again on Saturday as it takes on Richard Stockton and Eastern at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
