Box Score Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's soccer squad opened its 2014 campaign with a lengthy stalemate, dueling Hood through two overtime periods to reach the 1-1 final. This is the second year in a row that the Saints have tasted overtime in their season opener.
The Blue and White struck first with sophomore Kirsten Campbell serving a lengthy ball to classmate Chloe McAuliffe, who skipped the Saints' first tally of the season just over the goal line in the 44th minute.
The Blazers, undaunted, answered back just minutes into the second half. Alyssa Nubgaard, after a lengthy trek up the sideline, found the back of the net in the 51st minute for the equalizer.
From there, the chess match continued, with both teams continuing to pressure to no avail. The two ensuing overtime periods proved too little time for the squads to determine a victor.
Erin Harris (0-0-1) collected eight saves in her first career start between the pipes.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday as it faces Greensboro at 4 p.m. in its final match of the weekend.
