Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's soccer team won an explosive match Saturday afternoon, overpowering Hood 4-0. With their second-straight victory, the Saints improve to 2-4 on the season.

In what would prove a very physical game, Marymount set the pace with three goals in the opening frame – the most first half goals it's scored this season.

Freshman Kirsten Campbell opened the scoring with a strike in the 10th minute, giving Marymount the early advantage.

Both junior Heather Bodenhamer and sophomore Erin Harris would tally their first goals of the year in the 24th and 41st minutes, respectively. Freshman Chloe McAuliffe earned the assist after setting up Bodenhamer.

Defense on both ends dominated the second half as neither team posted more than two shots.

The Saints, however, were able to capitalize as the clock waned. Junior Kiki Weaver fired from beyond the arc to make it 4-0 in the 85th minute. 

Junior Holly Wenger reigned in her first win of the season, splitting time with freshman April Westmark between the pipes. The pair recorded one save apiece in the victory.

Marymount returns to action on Saturday as it hosts Christopher Newport. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Long Bridge Park.
