Women's Hoops Defeats Salisbury to Remain On Top of CAC Standings

Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball wrapped up the first half of Capital Athletic Conference play with a 63-43 victory over visiting Salisbury on Wednesday night. The Saints improve to 15-4 overall, 5-1 in league play, and remain in first place in the CAC standings.

Tynisha Parks led the Saints with a game-high 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting while Katelyn Fischer added 20 and Kievanna Lacey chipped in 14 points. Parks nearly posted a double-double with nine rebounds while Fischer led all players with four steals.

Marymount dominated the first half, outscoring the Sea Gulls 35-14 in the frame and holding them to a meager 18.2 percent shooting percentage. Conversely, the Saints hit 53.8% of their shots including half of their attempts from downtown.

Salisbury mounted a late comeback attempt in the second frame, cutting its deficit to 12 down 51-39 with just over six minutes to play. The Saints would respond by closing out the game on a 12-4 run and holding the Sea Gulls without a basket for the final 3:47.

Anna Hackett led Salisbury with 15 points.
