Fredericksburg, Va. – Marymount University's men's soccer team battled Eastern Mennonite to a 1-1 tie in both teams' season opener on Saturday at the Mary Washington Invitational. 

Jorge Alvarado scored the lone goal for the Saints in the 28th minute.

Marymount held the Royals scoreless until the 84:10 mark when EMU converted a penalty kick to force overtime and salvage the tie.

Mike Madigan collected four saves in goal for Marymount.

Marymount returns to action on Sunday as it takes on Hampden-Sydney at 3:30 p.m.
