Men's Basketball Edged at Lynchburg

Box Score

Lynchburg, Va. – Marymount University's men's basketball team dropped a close 69-62 decision on the road at Lynchburg on Sunday afternoon. The Saints fall to 3-8 overall on the year.

Jesse Konadu led the Saints with 15 points off the bench while Reed Scott posted his fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

A slow start for the Saints saw Lynchburg (9-2) jump out to an 8-0 run before MU turned thetables and took a 19-18 lead on an Aaron Walsh jumper at the 6:38 mark as part of a 10-2 run. Marymount would push its lead to seven on an old-fashioned three-point play from Konadu before taking a 36-32 lead going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Lynchburg regained the lead courtesy of an 8-0 run to start the second frame. The Hornets led by eight up 55-47 with 10 minutes to play before MU rallied back to pull within one on a JC Hoellich layup at the 6:28 mark. Marymount wouldn't be able to regain the lead though as LC pulled away down the stretch after taking a three possession lead in the final minutes.

Michael Wims led the Hornets with 18 points.

Marymount returns to action after the New Year as it takes part in the Johns Hopkins Invitational in Baltimore, Md. The Saints battle Susquehanna in the tournament opener on January 2 before facing either the host Blue Jays or Eastern on January 3.
