Box Score Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's volleyball dropped a pair of matches to open its home schedule on Saturday afternoon. The Saints fell 3-1 (25-21, 14-25, 25-19, 25-20) to Messiah before losing 3-1 (26-24, 25-27, 25-15, 25-19) to Lynchburg in the night cap.
Freshman
Erin Allison and junior setter
Melissa Warren both posted double-doubles in the opening loss to the Falcons. Allison tallied a team-high 11 kills to go with 11 digs while Warren added 27 assists and 10 digs.
Junior
Michelle McCormick added 10 kills for MU (0-3) to go with eight digs and a pair of service aces.
Defensively, libero
Brianne Fitzpatrick added 15 digs and junior middle
Jennifer Forbes had six blocks, including three solo rejections.
In the finale, junior
Christine Gallart led the way with a match-high 12 kills while Allison added eight.
Three Saints chimed in with double-figure digs against the Hornets, let by Fitzpatrick's 14. Allison added another 13 while McCormick had 10.
Splitting the offense, Warren notched 16 assists while freshman
Kayla Stinson added 17.
Marymount returns to action on Wednesday as it opens Capital Athletic Conference
play on the road at rival Mary Washington at 7 p.m.
