Fredericksburg, Va. – Marymount University's men's soccer team shutout Bridgewater (Va.) 2-0 to open the 2011 season on Saturday. The opening day win is the second-straight for the Saints.

Senior Meceal Getachew posted the game winner in the 28th minute at the 27:24 mark. Freshman Henri Rivera then added a cushion goal with 15 minutes to play in the second frame off an assist from senior Kjell Crooke.

In goal, sophomore newcomer Mike Madagan was impressive, collecting six saves in his debut with the Saints (1-0-0).

Marymount returns to action on Sunday against Greensboro at 1 p.m.
