Late Goals Drop Men's Soccer Against Shenandoah

Box Score

Winchester, Va. – Marymount University's men's soccer team lost a hard-fought 2-0 decision on the road at Shenandoah on Sunday night.

The Saints (2-4-1) surrendered a late second half goal to break a deadlocked contest before a penalty kick with 10 minutes to play put the game away.

A rough opening to the first half that saw 15 fouls over the first 30 minutes compared to just two shots. Down the stretch, both squads began the offensive and pelted each other with another seven shots combined going into the break but to no avail.

The second half was much of the same with no score through the first 30 minutes of play. Shenandoah (3-4-1) would get on the board in the 75th minute as John Perterman put home the eventual game-winner. The Hornets would add an insurance goal six minutes later on a penalty kick.

William Brahmstedt paced Marymount between the pipes with five saves, four of them coming in the first half.

The Saints return to Capital Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, September 22, on the road at Salisbury at 4 p.m.
