Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball team dropped its opening game of the 2010 Marymount-Marine Corps Tip-Off Tournament 54-35 to visiting Neumann on Saturday night.

Maame Amponsah continued her impressive start to her senior campaign for the Saints (0-2) with 12 points and another 17 rebound performance for a double-double. Junior Jackie Bohenek added 12 points while senior Amanda Billy chipped in eight points and eight rebounds.

Neumann's Krista DiRomualdo led all scorers with 25 points while the Saints held the rest of the Knights (2-1) roster to under double-figures.

Marymount dominated Neumann on the glass 49-33, including 23 offensive boards to the Knights' eight.

The Saints return to action on Sunday in the consolation of the MU-Marine Corps Tip-Off Tournament against Redlands at 1:30 p.m.
