Tyler Womer returns for the 2022 season as an assistant coach and infield coordinator under head coach Michael Cassidy. Coach Womer will again be responsible for the coaching of the Saints' infielders, while assisting with hitters, recruiting efforts, as well as camps for the Marymount baseball program.
Coming from New Castle, Pa., Coach Womer played his collegiate years at Division II Wingate University, where he was a regular infielder from 2007-11. He was a part of the 2011 South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Tournament Champion team and advanced to the NCAA Southeast Regional in 2011.Â
Coach Womer began his coaching career shortly after graduation, remaining put at Wingate to obtain his master's degree while assisting with the baseball operations. He was responsible for the infielders, also assisting with hitters. During this stint, he held the main responsibility running youth camps, high school showcases, and organizing the annual team golf tournament.Â
In 2012, Coach Womer was hired as the recruiting coordinator and assistant coach at DeSales University located in Center Valley, Pa. under high-standing Coach Tim Neiman, who currently has the 12th most career wins (760) in NCAA Division III history. At DeSales, Coach Womer was integral in all recruiting efforts while remaining an infield, outfield, and hitting coach. While being the centerpiece for recruiting, Womer brought in 19 individual players who were named to the MAC Freedom All-Conference Team a total of 36 times throughout their respective careers.Â
Coach Womer made the move to the DMV in 2017, being hired as the Director of Operations for the Mizuno Outlaws Travel Baseball Organization and the Assistant Director of Baseball at Crozer's 5-Tool Baseball Academy, located in Tyson's Corner, Va..Â
In August of 2019, Coach Womer was hired as an assistant coach at Erskine College, a strong NCAA Division II program located in South Carolina. During his time there, Coach Womer was responsible for the infielders, while still assisting with the hitters. The Flying Fleet finished the 2020 shortened season with an overall record of 17-8-1. During this season, the Erskine offense was among the top in all of Division II, finishing second in the nation in stolen bases (66), second in doubles (67), third in runs scored (216), fourth in hits (262), eighth in triples (10), and 24th overall in home runs. The Flying Fleet defense was also seventh in the nation in double plays turned (20) during this season.Â
Most recently before Marymount, Coach Womer was an assistant and infield coach for the Alexandria Aces Collegiate Summer Team of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball Leage (CRCBL), a top summer league for collegiate baseball players. During this time, he coached a plethora of different Division I players from schools not limited to Vanderbilt University, Auburn University, and the University of Central Florida. During the 2021 season, the Aces finished with an overall record of 20-15, good for regular season second place. Coach Womer coached first base for the CRCBL All-Star Team, who played the Israel National Team, holding current and former MLB players.Â
Apart from his current role for Marymount baseball, Coach Womer trains players of all ages throughout the DMV, running camps, weekly training sessions, clinics, and more in the Northern Virginia area.
Coach Womer holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management from Wingate.
