Roy Hill enters his second season as the head men’s wrestling coach at Marymount in 2023-24. He is the inaugural coach for a program that was announced in March 2022.

In June 2023, he was honored with the Bobby Douglas Legacy Award by the Black Wrestling Association. The award is given in recognition of significant contributions to the Black wrestling community and longstanding commitment to inspiring, connecting and empowering Black wrestlers through attitude, words and actions.

In his first season, Hill coached the Saints through a challenging schedule that culminated at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships in February which saw Mateo Hernandez finish in eighth place at 141 pounds. 
 
Hill brings over 30 years of experience to the table as the Saints' wrestling program gets off the ground.
 
A graduate of Virginia Military Institute, Hill served as the head wrestling coach at Hayfield High School since 1992. Hill turned Hayfield into a regional power and produced multiple Virginia state champions. He was responsible for all aspects of the program, from recruiting athletes, practice planning, and collegiate prep work.
 
Outside of prep athletics, Hill founded the Gunston Wrestling Club in Alexandria, Va. He has served as the acting director since its implementation and managed all operations for the club. As a coach, Hill developed multiple athletes for the Virginia Wrestling Association (VAWA) National Team and had eight mentees earn All-American status at Cadet/Junior Nationals in Fargo, N.D.
 
Hill has played an integral role in growing the sport in Northern Virginia. He has served VAWA since 1998 in various roles including Chairman and Vice-Chairman. Hill implemented USA Wrestling policies in Virginia, oversaw the association's budget, and led the Virginia National Teams at various events throughout the country.
 
He has also served as the President of the Northern Virginia Wrestling Coaches Association since 1996. Hill organized coaching clinics, developed the WrestleSmart Program, and helped developed the VHSL Wrestling Weight Control Program. In addition to those achievements, Hill directed the Virginia vs. Maryland Senior All-Star Dual Meet, which acts as the premier regional showcase for top state wrestling athletes as they look to move onto college.
 
Hill is a Gold Certified USA Wrestling coach and was named to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2015. He has also been honored as the Washington Examiner Wrestling Coach of the Year (2006), the Fairfax Journal Newspapers Wrestling Coach of the Year (2003), and the Washington Post All-Metropolitan Wrestling Coach of the Year (2004).
