Jimmy McCumber

Jimmy McCumber joined Marymount as Associate Athletic Director for Development in October 2021.

McCumber's position reports jointly to Advancement and Athletics. He leads fundraising efforts, stewardship activities, and fundraising-related events for the Athletics department, engaging in both major gift and annual fundraising to forward the needs of the department. He also serves as the sport administrator for four programs: men's soccer, women's soccer, men's wrestling, and women's wrestling. 

He was previously the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Media Relations, Game Day Operations and Fundraising at Bridgewater College since 2017, after initially joining the Eagles' staff as Director of Athletic Media Relations.

He completed a master's of sports administration degree from Ohio University in May 2018. He was the President of the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) from 2019-21 after serving as Vice President from 2017-19.

McCumber was the Sports Information Director at Sweet Briar College in the fall of 2014. A Massachusetts native, he previously served as the Sports Information Director at Albright College in Pennsylvania for three years, and two years as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Misericordia University. 

McCumber was the Sports Media Relations Director for the Valley Baseball League from 2016-18, a collegiate summer league with 11 teams in Virginia. He worked in the press box with the Reading Fightin Phils from 2013-14, the AA affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. He also worked for two years in the PA Booth with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, a AAA minor league baseball team affiliated with the New York Yankees.

As an undergraduate student-athlete at Vassar College, McCumber was a four-year member of the men's soccer team. He also competed for the men's track team and was a sports information student assistant during his days with the Brewers. He graduated in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in political science.

McCumber served as a volunteer assistant or goalkeeper coach with the Misericordia men's, Albright men's and women's, and Sweet Briar women's soccer teams. In 2009, the Misericordia men won the Freedom Conference championship and qualified for the NCAA tournament. He was a 2013 member of the FC Reading Revolution in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), and previously played for the Pocono Snow (also of the NPSL).

McCumber resides in Fredericksburg, Va. with his wife Danielle, daughter Katie and son Evan.
