In his coaching role, Bainton took over the Marymount tennis programs ahead of their first full season of competition in 2021-22. Since then, he led the Saints to incredible heights, boasting a men's dual record of 36-15 - including 12-0 in Atlantic East play – and a women's dual record of 25-20 – including 10-2 in Atlantic East play. Here are some of Marymount's other accomplishments in the last three seasons: 

  • Four Atlantic East Rookies of the Year (M. Miller – 2022; S. Dijkema – 2023; E. Degamwar, S. Lucero – 2024) 
  • Five Atlantic East Players of the Year (M. Miller – 2022; D. Guiot, C. Haymans – 2023; N. Stromberg, F. Fritz – 2024) 
  • Two Atlantic East Coaching Staff of the Year awards (2023 – men's, 2024 – women's) 
  • 24 All-Conference selections (singles) 
  • 10 All-Conference selections (doubles tandems) 
  • Two VaSID Rookies of the Year (M. Miller – 2022, S. Dijkema – 2023) 
  • Nine VaSID All-State selections (M. Miller – 2022; C. Haymans (2nd Team), S. Dijkema (2nd Team), D. Guiot, N. Stromberg – 2023; N. Stromberg, E. Degamwar, F. Fritz, S. Lucero – 2024) 
  • 37 Atlantic East All-Academic selections 
  • Two Atlantic East Elite 20 Award recipients (E. Achu – 2022, S. Plotkin – 2024) 
  • One CSC Academic All-American (C. Haymans – 2023) 

Bainton is considered one of the best developmental coaches in North America, having coached at the junior and professional level. He has had players compete and win national championships, compete in junior grand slams, and win NCAA titles.

Bainton was a heavily recruited nationally ranked junior in his native England, going on to play on a full scholarship at Division I George Mason University.

Bainton is the owner of Blue Chip Sports Management and is considered one of the leading authorities on sports facility operations and management in the world. He has published three books and has over one hundred published articles covering the business aspects of the sports industry. He is an adjunct professor at Marymount in Sports Management, Marketing and Communications. He is also a doctoral candidate in Business Intelligence through the Marymount school of BILT.

Bainton holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from George Mason and a graduate degree in Business and Sports Industry Management from Georgetown.
