Sam Snyder starts his first year at Marymount as the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach and Assistant Track & Field Coach.
Strength & Conditioning:
Sam comes to Marymount with previous Division I experience as a coach at Princeton University, and as an intern at Rutgers University, Bryant University, and the University of Rhode Island. Sam has also worked with various youth performance and private sector training facilities, as well as recent experience as an Exercise Physiologist.
During his time at Princeton, Sam oversaw the Strength & Conditioning programs for Volleyball, Rugby, Fencing, and Rowing. He also assisted with the other 30 varsity teams.
Track & Field:
Sam brings a wealth of experience from his time as a Division I thrower where he excelled in shot put and discus for the University of Rhode Island, where he achieved the URI and Atlantic 10 Conference records in the Discus and was 3-time NCAA Championship qualifier. He was also the Assistant Track & Field Coach for North Kingstown High School.
"We are excited to bring on Sam as an Assistant Coach," Head Coach Jonathan Morrow said. "He brings a depth of knowledge to the shot put and discus which is hard to match. I think his experience allows him to teach the athletes to integrate their weight room progression into the circle and into bigger throws. He also serves as a great role model for the team as he knows what it takes to succeed at the highest levels of college athletics."
Sam earned his Master’s in Exercise Science from East Stroudsburg University and his Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from the University of Rhode Island. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach (USAW).
