ARLINGTON, Va. -- Marymount men's and women's golf swept Golfer of the Week awards for their respective conferences, announced yesterday by each office.
Punchy Mahathep garnered Centennial Conference Women's Golf Athlete of the Week, with first-year
Tanner Currie picking pu Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Athlete of the Week.
Mahathep opened the fall season with a fourth-place finish among 91 competitors at the Shenandoah Fall Invitational. The sophomore shot a six-over 78 on day one, before improving by two strokes with a four-over 76 the final round. The Saints placed second in the team standings in a field of 17 teams.
This marks a return to the Weekly Award circuit for Mahathep, the CC Rookie of the year last season.
Currie picks up his first Conference Weekly Award after dominating the course for the Saints.
He led the way for MU at The Toftrees Invitational, shooting two-under across two rounds (73, 69), ultimately helping the squad to a 6th-place finish out of a competitive 16-team field. He finished T5 individually.
