ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Centennial Conference and the MASCAC each announced their golf weekly awards on Tuesday, awarding a pair of Saints that had team-leading weeks to win the Cardinal Fall Classic.
Punchy Mahathep of women's golf earned Centennial Conference Women's Golf Athlete of the Week, with
Daniel Kwon of men's golf picking up MASCAC Rookie of the Week.
Mahathep had a historic outing at the Cardinal Fall Classic, posting the second-lowest single-round score in Centennial history en route to a second-place finish in a field of 49 golfers.
Mahethep opened the two-day, 36-hole tournament with a two-under 70 at Black Rock Golf Course, which trails only the three-under 69 recorded by teammate
Kate Parsons earlier this fall in the CC record book.
The freshman followed up that round with a five-over 77 to finish at 147 (+3), helping the Saints win the team title among the nine competing squads.Â
Kwon finished tied for eighth at the Cardinal Fall Classic, posting a two-round score of 147 (73, 74) +3. He led the way for the Saints, who went on to bring home the tournament win.
