ARLINGTON – It was a blustery Sunday afternoon at Virginia Highlands Park as the Marymount tennis program hosted Landmark foe, Goucher. The Saints came up short in a pair of hard-fought duals, falling 7-0 on the men's side and 6-3 on the women's side.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• On the men's side, Goucher took a 3-0 lead after doubles play with solid wins across the board.  
• At No. 1 and No. 2 singles, Nicolas Stromberg and Eshan Degamwar played thrilling matches that required a third set tiebreaker. Both Saints couldn't pull out the victories as Marymount fell short in all contested singles matches.  
• No. 4 and No. 5 singles were not contested on the men's side.  
• On the women's side, Fabienne Fritz went 2-0 on the day, including MU's lone point at doubles while paired with Avery DeFazio (8-4). She also won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.  
• At No. 3 doubles, Ariane Kombou and Angelica Dalton took it to the wire before falling by a narrow 8-6 final score.  
• Sofia Lucero picked up Marymount's final point of the day, earning the victory with a decisive 10-2 margin in the third set tiebreaker.  
• Marymount had a chance to win if they pulled out wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, but the Saints couldn't complete the comeback.
