ARLINGTON, Va. - In their first meet of the season, the Saints swimming program opened up in their home pool, sweeping the day against two conference foes.
Both the women and men move to 2-0, overall and in conference, to kick off the 2023-24 season.
TEAM RESULTS
- The men took down both St. Mary's (Md.) and Cabrini in decisive fashion, 179-82 and 210-28.
- The women swept their side of the meet, too, at 160-100 and 200-12.Â
RELAY TOP RESULTS
- The Marymount 200 yard medley team of Cara Craig, Tidawee Srun, Ilana Hawkins, and Lillian Crawley finished on top with a final time of 1:55.38.
- On the men's side of the 200 yard medley, the team of Ethan White, Evan Pak, Carsten Hicks, and Luke Claudy finished atop the leaderboard with a time of 1:37.46. The overall time is good for ninth all-time in the Marymount record book, with White's 25.24 posting good for third all-time in the 50 yard backstroke.
- The women's team of Alexandra Pette, Arianna Koerner, Payton So, and Craig finished second in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:48.24.
- The men's 200 yard freestyle relay team of Claudy, Trevor Cairns, Gavin Keane, and Alexander Hain finished first with a time of 1:30.58.
INDIVIDUAL TOP RESULTS
- Marymount finished one-two in the women's 1000 yard freestyle event, with Sydney Runk (11:43.00) finishing first followed by Isabella Ochalik (12:30.73) close behind. Runk also finished atop the boards in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:44.03. Ochalik had another silver finish in the women's 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:36.94.
- The men followed up with a one-two punch of their own in the 1000 yard freestyle. Garrett Watson (10:25.93) finished first, with Daniel Caldwell (10:33.92) in second. Watson's time is good for fourth in the record book, with Caldwell's at sixth.Â
- Crawley notched first in the women's 200 yard freestyle with a finishing mark of 2:05.33.
- Ryan Faherty put his name in the record books with a win in the men's 200 yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:47.97, 10th all-time. He went on to place second in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:18.32. He finished his day winning the 200 yard IM event with a time of 2:05.54.
- In the women's 100 yard backstroke event, Pette came in second with a time of 1:02.98.
- White placed second in the men's 100 yard backstroke with a time of 55.23, also notching second in the 200 yard backstroke (2:04.03).Â
- Another one-two finish for the Saints came in the women's 100 yard breaststroke event. Srun (1:12.50)Â came across first, with junior Ella DeNicola notching a time of 1:17.61 for silver. The pair also finished back-to-back in the 200 yard breaststroke: Srun in first at 2:36.92 and DeNicola in second at 2:47.35.
- Pak put himself eighth all-time in the Marymount record book with a first place finish in the men's 100 yard breastroke, notching a time of 1:01.06. He also had a first place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:17.08), good for ninth all-time in program history.Â
- Watson placed second in the men's 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.17 before placing first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:04.75.
- The Saints placed one-two-three in the women's 50 yard freestyle event, in order: Hawkins (26.33), So (27.54), and Pette (27.67).
- Claudy earned gold in the men's side of the 50 yard freestyle event, clocking a time of 22.18, going on to take silver in the 100 yard of the same event at 49.42.
- Crawley earned silver in the women's 100 yard freestyle at 57.30.
- It went one-two-three again for the Saints in the women's 200 yard backstroke: Pette (2:17.86) at first, Craig (2:20.00) in second, and Koerner (2:26.05) in third.
- Cairns placed first in the men's 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:01.85, also notching a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle (1:51.09).
- Hawkins placed second in the women's 100 yard butterfly event with a time of 1:06.21.
- It was all Marymount in the men's 100 yard butterfly, with Hicks (53.54), Keane (54.64), and Justin Singletary (54.73) coming up top.Â
- The women dominated the 200 yard IM event: Crawley (2:22.58) finished on top, followed by Srun (2:28.46), then DeNicola (2:36.77).

- The Saints will be back at home next weekend, hosting two Atlantic East opponents in Cedar Crest and Marywood on Saturday at 12 PM.
