WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Marymount University men's swimming team returned to the pool for the first time in 2022 in a 176-67 win at Gallaudet University on Saturday.
The team earned first in 13-of-14 events in the meet, led by three top finishes by sophomore Dylan Prophet. He took first in the 100-yard individual medley (1:00.75), the 100-yard butterfly (57.38 seconds), and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.94).
The Saints saw four others earn two top finishes in the meet, as sophomore Trevor Cairns placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.78) and the 100-yard backstroke (59.03 seconds).
Sophomore Jake Wornom took gold in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles with times of 23.80 seconds and 53.79 seconds, respectively.
Sophomore Jaiden Lugo placed first in the 50-yard backstroke in 28.48 seconds and the 50-yard butterfly in 25.90 seconds.
Junior Michael Cohen finished first in the 50-yard breaststroke in 35.42 seconds and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:38.67.
Sophomore Coulter Afflerbach added a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:56.48.
The team placed first in both relays, as well, as Cairns, Cohen, Lugo, and Wornom won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:50.16.
Prophet, Afflerbach, junior Dezi Vereen, and freshman Thomas Wilcoski teamed to take gold in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:43.00 to close the meet.
The Saints will be back in the pool on Friday, January 21 at Catholic University of America at 5 p.m.
