ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Marymount University men's swimming team dove back into action on Friday, picking up a dual meet victory over St. Mary's College of Maryland, 117-52.
The Saints dominated in the pool, taking first in nine events, including both relays.
They started the day in the 400-yard medley relay, with a quartet of freshman, Jaiden Lugo, Ebraham Cabiling, Dylan Prophet, and Ryan Pascual, winning in 3:58.17.
Cabiling added two individual gold medals in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke. In the 200 free, he tallied a time of 1:58.05, and in the 100 breaststroke, he finished in 1:03.38.
Freshman Trevor Cairns notched two first-place finishes, as well. He posted times of 2:06.43 and 5:03.99 in the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle, respectively. His time in the 500 free was good to take over the No. 8 spot in program history.
Prophet, Pascual, and Lugo, each, took first in an event, as well.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Prophet took the gold in 56.68 seconds. Pascual added a first in the 100-yard freestyle in 52.51 seconds. Lugo finished first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.86.
Marymount ended the day with first in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as Lugo, Cairns, freshman Jason Figueroa, and freshman Coulter Afflerbach teamed for a time of 3:26.87.
The Saints saw four second-place finishes, as well. Prophet finished the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.50, Pascual finished the 50-yard freestyle in 23.76 seconds, Figueroa finished the 200-yard individual medley in 2:07.19, and sophomore Dezi Vereen finished the 100-yard freestyle in 58.22 seconds.
The Saints will now look forward to the Atlantic East Conference championships, set to begin on Friday, April 23.
