ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Marymount University men's swimming team defeated Marywood University, 121-105, in Atlantic East Conference competition on Saturday.
Sophomore Trevor Cairns led the way for the Saints, taking first in three individual races. He began the day with the gold in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.22. He added golds in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.54) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:16.18).
Sophomore Dylan Prophet added first-place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:17.95 and the 100-yard butterfly in 57.27 seconds. Classmate Jaiden Lugo notched second in the 100 butterfly in 58.57 seconds.
Lugo added another second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.80 seconds and in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.30 seconds.
The team's final individual first came in the 50-yard freestyle, as sophomore Jake Wornom took gold with a 23.47-second effort. Junior Dezi Vereen added a silver in the race in 24.63 seconds.
The Saints added a gold in the 200-yard medley relay, as well, with Cairns, Prophet, Lugo, and Vereen teaming for a time of 1:45.40.
Prophet tallied a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, as well, with a time of 2:16.95.
Junior Michael Cohen took second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:17.80.
The team ended the day with a silver in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Vereen, Cohen, Wornom, and sophomore Coulter Afflerbach posted a time of 1:41.32.
The Saints will return home in the New Year for their next meet, hosting Randolph-Macon College on Saturday, January 8 at 12 p.m.
