ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Marymount University men's swimming team took down Immaculata University, 99-67, in a quad-dual meet with Immaculata, Cabrini University, and St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday.
The Saints started strong in the 200-yard medley relay, taking second overall, with sophomores Trevor Cairns, Dylan Prophet, Jaiden Lugo, and Jake Wornom teaming for a time of 1:45.70. The time was first against St. Mary's and Immaculata.
Prophet led the team with an overall first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.05 seconds.
Cairns added two second-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. He finished the 200 free in 1:50.18, which ranked first against Immaculata and St. Mary's. For the 100 back, he posted a time of 56.97 seconds, placing first against Cabrini and Immaculata.
Wornom and junior Michael Cohen, each, defeated the Mighty Macs to contribute to the victory.
Wornom finished the 100-yard freestyle in 52.50 seconds, ahead of all Immaculata swimmers, while Cohen did the same with a 1:17.13 time in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Marymount added four more times that came in second when compared to Immaculata.
In the 1000-yard freestyle, freshman Thomas Wilcoski clocked in at 13:15.91.
Junior Dezi Vereen added a time of 24.89 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, and in the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Coulter Afflerbach finished in 6:05.98.
The team ended the day in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Vereen, Cohen, Wornom, and Afflerbach set a time of 1:40.08.
Marymount will return to action on Saturday, November 6 in a double-dual meet against Marywood University and Cedar Crest College. The meet is set for 1 p.m.
