ARLINGTON, Va. - The Marymount University men's swimming team had its final home meet of the season on Saturday afternoon, topping Immaculata University in Atlantic East Conference competition, 95-57, on Senior Day.
During the meet, the Saints honored nine seniors for their careers in the pool, including five from the men's team: Scott Bockisch, Kevin Umanzor, James Powers, Mathew Landivar, and Gabriel Loring.
They were honored for more on Saturday as well, as four of the five earned top finishes in their respective events against the Mighty Macs.
Bockisch and Powers led the way with two wins apiece. Bockisch collected a top finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.55, 15 seconds faster than the second-place competitor. He followed it up with first place in the 100 butterfly, touching the wall at 57.31.
Powers started off with a top finish in the 50 free with a time of 24.00 flat. He was followed in by Umanzor (25.57) and freshman Dezi Vereen (25.64). Powers rounded out his day with a first-place finish in the 100 free, clocking a time of 53.38.
Landivar opened the day with a second-place finish in the 100 free (57.15), and capitalized in his final race with a top finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.31).
Loring was the last senior with a top finish for the day, collecting first in the 500 free with a time of 6:02.47.
Junior Max Klemm rounded out the top individual finishes for the Saints, taking first in the 100 backstroke (57.64).
The Saints wrap up the regular season next Saturday, February 1 at Catholic University. Start time is set for 2 p.m.
