Washington, D.C. – The Marymount University men's and women's swimming teams used their unique mixture of accomplished veterans and a multitude of newcomers to sweep host Gallaudet on Friday night. The men downed the Bison 115-96, while the women sailed to a 120-84 victory.
A plethora of Saints contributed points to the effort, as the Blue and White routinely occupied at least two of the top three spots from race to race.
The Marymount 200-yard medley relay foursomes were virtually insurmountable on both sides, as the Saints snatched the two events easily.
On the women's side, the wealth proved rather evenly spread, with seven different Saints reeling in the seven different individual titles. Returning All-CAC performers Bridget Wunderly, Hanna Del Signore, and Casey Thomas all continued their dominance in the pool, while a trio of newcomers – Marisol Rivera, Morgan Alston, and Kristen Kilroy – found their rhythm with an individual win apiece as well. Junior Holly Davis rounded out the Saints individual victories with an impressive performance in the 50-yard backstroke (39.65).
For the men, freshman Thomas Bierley hauled in a pair of victories in the 400-yard individual medley and the 100-yard freestyle to pace the Saints' scoring. Bierley's strong performance was supplemented by individual wins from rookie classmates Wesley Wilson and Shaka Kuykendall, as well as top-times from sophomores William Bryan, Tyler Irwin, and Robert Klazynski.
Marymount returns to the pool on Saturday in its first home meet of the season. The Saints are set to host Randolph-Macon – first event slated for 2:00 p.m.
