St. Mary's City, Md. – Marymount
University's men's and women's swimming teams
opened the 2012-13 season with a double-dual meet at Capital
Athletic Conference foe St. Mary's (Md.) with former CAC
member Catholic in the mix. The Saints men fell 132-72 to Catholic
and 160-44 to St. Mary's while the women's squad lost
126-78 to Catholic and 148-56 to St. Mary's.
On the men's side, newcomer AJ Dunn posted a trio of
top-three individual finishes in his collegiate debut. He was
second in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 50.32 and the 200 IM in
2:05.45. Dunn was also third in the 200 Breaststroke at
2:21.46.
Other top finishers for the Saints include Tom Baroz with a
second place finish in the 200 Butterfly in 2:08.84 and Joseph
Gardner placing third in the 200 Freestyle at 1:54.12.
On the women's side, the duo of Casey Thomas and Katie
Moran continued the Saints recent dominance of the Freestyle
events. Thomas won both the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle with
time of 25.50 and 56.04, respectively, while Moran was third in
both with times of 25.88 and 57.33.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday, November 3rd, as it
travels to face CAC foe York (Pa.).
