Frostburg, Md. – Marymount University's
men's swimming team won its second-straight meet with a
111-78 victory over Frostburg State on Saturday. The Saints won
eight of the 11 events and improve to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the
Capital Athletic Conference.
Opening with a win in the 200 Medley Relay, the team of Ryan
Kilmon, Greg Shumaker, Michael Yelmgren and Brian Tinsman posted a
time of 1:59.74 to defeat the Bobcats by almost 20 seconds. The
Saints then won the next two events as Everett Neiman won the 800
Freestyle in 9:45.88 and Thomas Baroz won the 200 Free in
2:09.52.
Yelmgren added another win for MU in the 200 IM with a time
of 2:28.57 to edge teammate Christian Jacky by just under two
seconds. Tinsman followed with a victory in the 100 Free in 56.30
while Yelmgren picked up his third win in the 100 Backstroke at
1:03.65.
Baroz earned another victory in the 400 Free in 4:43.77 to
top Neiman by less than two seconds. Shumaker would then post the
Saints' final victory with a time of 1:15.60 in the 100
Breaststroke.
Marymount returns to action at the CAC Championships, hosted
by St. Mary's (Md.) February 19-20.
