Washington, D.C. – Marymount University's
men's swimming team returned to the win column with a 139-122
victory over Gallaudet on Sunday afternoon. The Saints won nine
events in the meet and move to 2-7 on the season.
Michael Yelmgren earned MU's first win in the 100
Backstroke with a time of 55.71 before Greg Shumaker edged teammate
Brian Tinsman in the 100 Breaststroke at 1:07.28 by just .23 of a
second.
Thomas Baroz kept the Saints winning going with a 2:17.47 in
the 200 Butterfly while Tinsman picked up a first place finish of
his own in the 100 Freestyle at 50.87, a full three seconds faster
than to closest competitor.
Yelmgren added another victory in the 200 back at 2:06.69
while Shumaker also earned his second win in the 200 breast at
2:29.15. Tinsman ran away in the 100 fly at 57.89 and Shumaker
collected his third victory in the 200 IM at 2:15.81.
Closing out the meet, Yelmgren, Shumaker, Ryan Kilmon and
Tinsman won the 200 free relay at 1:36.75.
Marymount closes out the regular season on Saturday at
Frostburg State.
