Women's swimming earns wins over Gallaudet, Goucher in dual meet

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University women's swimming team picked up its first-two wins of the season on Saturday in a dual meet over Gallaudet University, 191-55, and Goucher College, 147-110, at the Lee Center Pool.

Seniors Hayley Elizondo and Isabel Grimm and freshman Delaney Carey all took first in two individual events to lead the team.

Elizondo earn the gold in the 50-yard free (26.07s) and the 100-yard individual medley (1:03.67) to bring her total to four individual victories this season.

Grimm started the Saints' day with first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:12.28. She added a victory in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.66.

Carey took first in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:05.90 and the 50-yard butterfly in 29.47 seconds.

Marymount also had first-place finishes from senior Jessie Bricker in the 100-yard freestyle (59.71 seconds), freshman Jessica Riemenschneider in the 50-yard breaststroke (36.93 seconds), and freshman Morgan Grubb in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.24).

Grimm, Elizondo, Carey, and Bricker teamed up to take first in each of the relays, as well. In the 200-yard medley relay, the quartet finished in 1:59.15 seconds, before finishing the 200-yard free relay in 1:48.98 seconds.

The Saints will return to the pool on Saturday, October 26 against St. Mary's College of Maryland at the Lee Center Pool; the meet is set for 1 p.m.
